Disability and mental health

Your mental health

Looking after your mental health, your mood and your emotional wellbeing is as important as taking care of yourself physically.

Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder are common. 1 in 4 adults will experience some kind of mental health problem over the course of a year, and for some people it can be a long-term or recurring issue.

If you are experiencing mental health difficulties or are concerned about a relative or friend, you should make an appointment with your GP.

If your life or a friend's life is in danger due to a mental health crisis, you should call 999 immediately.
