Providing enjoyable opportunities for schools and students of all abilities and experience.

'Blast' Online Competition 

A competition for junior school classes who are having whole class instrumental tuition.  

To participate, schools must submit a 1-minute recording of classes at their school playing an instrumental piece of music they have been learning this past term.

Please note:

  • You can upload a maximum of 1 video per class.
  • Recordings can include backing tracks but should only be of instrumental performances (no live singers involved).
  • Entries will be judged in April 2024. There will be 2 main categories - Single Term Whole Class (classes having only 1 term of instrumental lessons) and Two Term Whole Class (classes having a minimum of 2 terms of instrumental lessons). Those schools who are entering Two Term Whole Class should enter in Spring 2024. The winning classes will receive a musical experience for their schools! 
  • Deadline for entries is Monday 4 March 2024.

Sing! Primary Singing Festival 

October 2023 to March 2024
At the Beck Theatre, Hayes, and the Civic Centre, Uxbridge

A joyful celebration of group singing, this 6-month programme is designed to encourage and support group singing in primary schools. 

Primary schools will be given an opportunity to learn and perform a school solo, work towards a massed song, meet other school singers and learn more about music and performance in breakout workshops.  

Pre-event visits will also be made available to selected schools. 

Introductory workshop
October - to be confirmed
At the Civic Centre, Uxbridge, UB8 1UW

This introductory workshop is an essential part of the festival and all participating teachers are expected to attend.  

This workshop will introduce:  

  • the group song that you will be teaching to your school groups 
  • foundations of singing technique and how to teach it 
  • tips and exercises for leading group singing.

Festival workshop days and evening concerts 
Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March, 10am to 3pm (festival) and 6pm to 7.30pm (concert)
At the Beck Theatre, Hayes 

Led by our partners at Voices Foundation, school groups will be able to perform a solo, participate in multiple workshops and perform in a massed song.  

Please note:

  • Schools can either arrange their own travel to attend the festival or will be able to request a coach organised by the Music Service, for which there will be a charge.  
  • Parents will be expected to bring children to the evening concerts and schools.
  • The deadline to confirm participation is Monday 10 July.
  • Requests to participate after this date will be added to a waiting list.
  • Entry to schools is free and the last event was heavily subscribed. Schools will be informed in early July if they have been allocated a place.
  • Schools will need to confirm their choice of solo song by November.
  • The teacher who will be leading singing at the festival/concert is expected to attend the introductory workshop in October.
