Major applications advice
The major applications team is responsible for dealing with all major developments within the borough including residential developments of over 10 units and large retail, commercial and industrial developments.
Developers are encouraged to seek pre-application advice from the team before submitting applications.
Why would developers seek pre-application advice for major developments?
Developers are encouraged to seek pre-application advice so they do not submit unacceptable applications. The advice benefits the applicant by speeding up the development process and minimising the costs of submitting subsequent or unacceptable applications.
The pre-application advice service is subject to charging, depending on the nature of the application. To ensure the applicant receives the highest standard of service, the cost will be recovered directly by the Council and not by the taxpayer.

Appointments are necessary and are held between:
- Monday to Friday - 09:00 to 17:00
- Thursday - 09:00 to 19:30

Telephone enquiries can be made between 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday. If advice cannot be provided immediately, a return call will be made by the end of the next working day.
