Asking for an explanation

If you think a decision is wrong or you want to know more, you can ask us to explain it.

We will send you a letter telling you how we came to our decision. This is called a "statement of reasons".

You should request a "statement of reasons" within one month of the date the benefit decision was made. The date the benefit decision was made is shown on your benefit decision letter.
