Connected for business

Hillingdon is an impressive borough, the second largest in London, with great assets. Covering 44 square miles, the borough stretches from the Buckinghamshire border in the north to Heathrow Airport in the south and is a key gateway into West London.

There is a strong local economy with good potential for further growth. The geography and environment of the local area are important in shaping Hillingdon's economy through their impact on tourism and business travel, business sectors, workforce and availability of development land.

There are significant regeneration opportunities in the south of the borough with Hayes, West Drayton and Yiewsley full of opportunity for developers and investors, just 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport and with good links into Central London.

As well as larger corporate businesses there is huge scope for location of small and medium enterprises, business start-ups and mixed use development.

There are more than 10,000 VAT registered enterprises within Hillingdon providing some 200,000 jobs as well as a vibrant local business sector with many being small and medium enterprises.

Home to Stockley Park, the UK's original campus-style business park, which 25 years, on remains popular with major multinationals. Large companies like BP, GlaxoSmithKline and Rackspace also have a well established presence in the borough.

The Council is currently working with organisations like Segro PLC, Hyde Park Hayes and the Old Vinyl Factory to deliver shared aspirations for economic growth and regeneration.

Hillingdon boasts a range of rural and urban centres, each with its own local features. These include a Metropolitan Centre in Uxbridge, widely recognised as as an excellent example of modern metropolitan centre management, five District Centres and three Minor District Centres. 

A key priority for Hillingdon's regeneration strategy is to ensure the success and viability of all Hillingdon's town centres. The council will be investing in Ruislip Manor, Hayes and Northwood Hills over the next three years by taking a 'Total Approach' to delivering schemes - i.e. maximising the value of Council and external investment to deliver improvements.

Heathrow Airport

Hillingdon is in fact home to two airports; Northolt Aerodrome provides handling facilities for private flights in addition to Ministry of Defence activities.

Excellent transport links

The borough is served by three Tube lines on the London Underground network and three Crossrail Stations are planned for Hayes, West Drayton and Heathrow. www.crossrail.co.uk »

London's strategic road network including the nearby M4, A40, A312, M40 and M25 provide efficient transport links into Hillingdon.

Parks - small Green spaces

The borough offers an excellent quality of life with more land under prestigious Green Flag status than any other London Borough (21 Green Flags.) Many hectares of woodland, fields and farms, several rivers and the Grand Union Canal.

leisure centres - small World class leisure facilities

Hillingdon has some of the best sports and leisure centres in London. One of the top leisure facilities in the country can be found at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure complex and a recently completed state of the art leisure facility has recently been built in Hayes.

Brunel Hillingdon is home to a range of high performing schools and specialist academies. Our further and higher education providers can develop and deliver bespoke training courses specific to your industry and help you identify and recruit skilled and ready trained candidates for full time and part-time positions within your business.
