Sports and leisure services

Hillingdon Council is looking for new providers for sports and leisure activities and wants to use facilities we already have available in the borough to deliver an enhanced service to residents.

Can you provide sports and leisure services in Hillingdon?

The council would like to expand the pool of sports coaches and instructors that are interested in delivering the current community based programmes on our behalf that will engage more residents to be more active, more often or those interested in delivering privately organised activities that make use of the borough's facilities. This may include coaching rights at public tennis courts, multi use games areas, outdoor gyms, outdoor fitness classes and others, but you shouldn't be limited by our list.
With 28 Green Flag awards for our parks, record investment in outdoor gyms, multi use games areas and tennis courts plus a whole range of green spaces, we want to ensure we maximise commercial opportunities and most importantly deliver great services to residents.

We are therefore inviting individuals and organisations to get in touch to tell us what they can offer.

What we currently offer

Activities that are already being delivered in Hillingdon are part of the council's regular programme, many of which are delivered by external organisations and individuals on our behalf, can be found on our website under:

Sports and fitness

Like all councils, Hillingdon operates in a very challenging financial environment. The council also has arrangements for coaches, instructors and other suppliers to deliver activities that can be operated under a licence arrangement whereby an agreed use of council facilities is possible to deliver independent fitness activities or sports coaching. This may involve the use of a local park, multi use games area or other facility.

What next?

If you see an opportunity in the borough, please let us know. At this stage we are looking for you to get in touch and provide us with information about what you currently deliver elsewhere and/or what you think you might be able deliver for the council. What we don't need at this stage is any specific details on finances, insurance or qualifications; we will ask for those at a later date.

If you run services for other councils and would like to extend your service to Hillingdon, then we're keen to talk. If you've never dealt with a council before but deliver a sport or leisure service that would fit with what we are looking for then we want to hear from you.

If you are interested, please email the wellbeing team on wellbeing@hillingdon.gov.uk
When you get in touch, please tell us about:

  • what you do
  • who you deliver services for and where
  • any examples of your work, including positive outcomes

You should also provide a broad idea of how this would work financially.
If you don't currently operate a service elsewhere we still want to hear from you and would ask that you tell us a little about your idea.
