The chapels

Breakspear Crematorium has three chapels:

  • the East chapel which is of traditional style
  • the West chapel, which has a circular modern design
  • the North chapel which is an overflow chapel allowing large services to be screened from the West chapel

The chapels are interdenominational, catering for all religious needs, and religious symbols may be displayed or removed according to the persuasion of the bereaved.

Both chapels can seat upwards of eighty persons with a sufficient space to allow standing room for a similar number in each chapel. The North (overflow) chapel can accommodate 150 seated.

All chapels are carpeted throughout which, together with the oak seating and floral displays, combine to give a feeling of warmth and serenity. All chapels have wheelchair access, waiting areas and toilets.

West Chapel - more modern with semi circular pews The East and West chapels are equipped with an electronic organ, and an extensive range of music can be played at services through the music engine. although CD's can also be played. All chapels have a hearing induction loop systems.

Both chapels are bookable for thirty minute intervals.

  • The East chapel service times are bookable on the hour and half hour between 10am to 3.30pm daily Monday to Friday
  • The West chapel service times are bookable on the quarter past and quarter to between 9.45am and 3.15pm Monday to Friday

It is possible to book a longer time for an additional charge.

Floral tributes are displayed on the flower terraces outside the chapels, following the service and are removed after two days.

Please note: No dogs except for Registered Assistance Dogs are permitted in the chapels or grounds.
