Interested in starting up a childcare business?

The Early Years Service can help.

If you love looking after children and love to be around them, then starting a childcare business could be a great choice for you. A childcare business can be rewarding and fun at the same time! However, there is a few things you need to know before setting out to start your business.

Why choose a childcare business?

Nowadays many families are struggling financially and find it difficult to manage on one wage packet. Now, with the increased cost of living and inflation it is becoming a necessity for both parents to work. Hence, this is why most parents have to consider sending their children to childcare and it is a wonderful opportunity to have an impact on the lives of children and their families.

It is important to ask yourself a few questions before you start to venture on your new business:

  • Do you plan to care for a few children in your home?
  • Is running a large child care centre with many children of various ages your goal?
  • Is your primary motivation to provide direct care for children? Or are you more interested in the management challenges of running a large child care facility?
  • Do you have a small budget and just want to get started in child care? Or do you have funding sources that will be invested in your business?
  • Have you considered the different regulations and laws that could influence your decision about operating a child care business in your community?
