Disabilities services

We want people to have services, when they need them, in the most flexible way to meet individual needs.

Adults with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities

Hillingdon social services aims to:

  • help people live as independently as possible in the community
  • make sure that people and/or the people who look after them (carers) are involved in what help is needed and discussing what services will be provided

By providing services in your home which are reliable and provided by trained staff.

Can I see my records?

Information you give us about your circumstances will be strictly confidential. You can request to see your files by contacting your local Social Services Office.

Adult protection

Adults abuse is not so well known but it happens more than many of us realise. Older people can be just as vulnerable to abuse. Read more »

What if I am not able to drive?

You may qualify for a travel permit, Blue Badge SchemeLondon Taxicard Scheme or London Dial-a-Ride. These services have their own criteria.

What if I am unwell and cannot get to the doctor?

Ring your doctor or NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for advice on what medicine to take. If your symptoms don't improve after 24 hours call your doctor. If it is an emergency ring 999. Visit the NHS choices website for more information.

What if I don't feel safe in my own home?

The crime prevention officer at your local police station can advise you on security at home.

You can also ring TeleCareLine if you have the service.

Special equipment/adaptations

The equipment loan service provides equipment for people with physical or sensory disability.

GPs, dentists and hospitals

You can have treatment, advice and preventative care, repairs or replacements, or just a check up with dentists working in health centres, clinics and hospitals »
