Arts grants scheme

​Hillingdon Council is keen to engage with individuals, performers, groups, ​societies and professional artistes to ensure there is a wide representation of the various genres within the arts.

There is funding available for both individuals and groups​.  

Individuals

This grant is for individual art practitioners who are seeking support for a specific project, and require help developing their ability and level of performance.

  • Individuals based within the London Borough of Hillingdon may apply.
  • The application should support the development of the applicant within the borough.
  • Funds to set up new groups and projects
  • Individuals may apply no more than once a year
  • Grants are awarded up to a maximum of £800 for an individual.

Groups

A grant for groups located within the London Borough of Hillingdon who are seeking support in the development of the activities and the participants of their organisation. 

  • Groups/organisations based within the London Borough of Hillingdon may apply.
  • Provided the project has demonstrable community benefit to Hillingdon residents, professional arts organisations may apply.
  • If applying as a club/voluntary organisation, you must have a constitution or governing policy.
  • The grant must support the development of the group within the borough.
  • The club/organisation must supply account statements for the last 12 months with their application, clearly stating their overall income and expenditure.
  • The club/organisation must be open access.
  • Groups may apply no more than twice in any year.
  • Grants are awarded up to a maximum of £1,000 for a group.
  • A group will be restricted as to how much grant they could receive where the group/societies audited financial accounts show that there are funds available which are in excess of 200% of the cost associated with the catastrophic loss (ie failure/expenditure incurred) of the production/show for which the grant is being applied for.

Criteria

Groups grants are for voluntary and professional arts groups.

  • Groups based within the London Borough of Hillingdon may apply.
  • Grants are awarded up to a maximum of £1,000.
  • The application supports the development of the group within the borough.
  • If applying as a club/voluntary organisation, you must have a constitution or governing policy.
  • The club/organisation must supply account statements for the last 12 months with their application, clearly stating their overall income and expenditure.
  • The club/organisation must be open access.
  • Groups may apply no more than twice in any year.
  • Purchase of equipment/instruments for the specific use for a production will be considered where it can be shown that it is pertinent to the artistic theme of the production, or the core activity of the group and where such equipment is not available to hire.  ​
  • Any items purchased must be  recorded as assets within the groups financial accounts, and any monies or financial gain  from disposal of the items must be refunded, in full, to the London Borough of Hillingdon within 3 months of date of disposal.

You cannot apply for :

  • Activities and projects that are not related to the arts.
  • Activities that provide no potential benefit to Hillingdon residents in the short or long term.
  • General running costs that are paid for by other income including your own funds.
  • Student projects if the project is directly related to a course, unless there is clear and demonstrable community benefit.
  • Funding for organisations and projects based outside the borough unless the project directly benefits residents of the London Borough of Hillingdon.
