Supplementary planning documents
Supplementary Planning Documents provide guidance for the detailed application of policies contained within the UDP Saved Policies (September 2007), emerging Local Development Framework and the London Plan.
In accordance with Regulation 16(2)(b) and 16(c) of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004, any person with sufficient interest in the decision to adopt the SPD may apply to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of that decision, and that any such application must be made promptly and in any event not later than 3 months after the date on which the SPD was adopted.

The SPD illustrates various design principles and sets minimum design standards to ensure that housing, public, commercial and employment development, requiring planning consent, is fully accessible.

RAF Uxbridge Planning Project

RAF Uxbridge is a large site close to Uxbridge town centre, the RAF Uxbridge Planning Project sets out the council's proposals for how RAF Uxbridge should be redeveloped in a way that revitalises the local area and provides benefits for residents from across the borough. The site owners, Defence Estates and VSM Estates, plan to redevelop it. A planning application is expected to be submitted in the summer/ autumn of 2009.
Planning obligations SPD

The Planning obligations SPD provides guidance for the detailed application of planning obligations policies within the UDP saved policies, emerging core strategy and the London Plan and the methods for assessing measures and contributions for different types of developments across the borough. For example, where the need for school places is generated from a new housing scheme, the SPD sets out a framework against which payments to the council can be calculated. Or where affordable housing is required to be provided by house builders, it sets out the methods through which this can be secured.

Hillingdon Design and Accessibility Statement

A key component of the Local Development Framework (LDF) is the Hillingdon Design and Accessibility Statement (HDAS), an important document containing a range of design and accessibility guidance for new development in the borough. The HDAS comprises a number of separate sections on a range of topics including residential extensions and new residential layouts, accessibility, public realm, transport interchanges and shopfronts/signage.

The SPD provides guidance on the implementation of policies to improve the contribution made by good planning to securing affordable homes in our communities.

Noise SPD

The Noise SPD considers both noise sensitive development (such as housing) and noise-generating development. The SPD sets out detailed guidance for the control of noise as part of new development in Hillingdon.

Live/Work SPD

Live/Work is a new but increasingly important land-use in London, where buildings contain a dual use consisting of specific but separate floorspace for residential and employment purposes. This SPD provides guidance for the development of Live/Work space in the Borough, including how to effectively plan for and manage Live/Work development.

Porters Way planning brief SPD
Adopted December 2005
The SPD provides guidance for achieving a sustainable mixed-use community for the future land use and development of a site at Porters Way, West Drayton. The site is comprised of the former RAF West Drayton, the National Air Traffic Services site and a local parade of shops and flats at Mulberry Parade. Its sustainability appraisal ensures that any significant environmental effects arising from the Porters Way planning brief are identified, assessed, mitigated and monitored.
