Children's centres in Hillingdon

Children's centres: "A bit like Toys R Us, everything you need all under one roof!"

This is a comment made by a mother of a two year old who had recently discovered Hillingdon Council's children's centres. Children's centres are being opened across the borough to support children under five and their families in a relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable space. As well as fun activities such as 'Stay and Play' and the opportunity to meet other parents, children's centres will offer a range of services, information and guidance in the local community.

Classes and support

Parents and families can expect to see ante and post natal classes, breastfeeding support, stay and play groups, a chance to meet other parents and a fun place to gain ideas on how to help their child develop. They will also offer a range of activities including: family learning, practical parenting skills, family health and lots of support when getting back to work.

They will have an outreach family support worker supporting designated health visitors, and you will find that the services offered will vary slightly from centre to centre, depending on the communities' needs.
