Hillingdon School Book of the Year Awards
Hillingdon Schools' Library Service organises three book of the year awards. These awards are Hillingdon Secondary School Book of the Year, Hillingdon Primary School Book of the Year and Hillingdon Picture Book of the Year.
A team of librarians from the Schools' Library Service read books that are published throughout the previous year and choose the short listed titles. The books are selected to appeal to both boys and girls, capturing their imaginations and encouraging them to become avid readers for life. Young people are encouraged to read these books, perform a presentation on their reading group's favourite title and vote for their personal favourite at the finale event. All the children vote for their individual favourite and the winner is announced during these finale events. The awards are sponsored by General Mills.
