Information on how to pay your bill.
Council Tax is usually paid in 10 instalments from April to January however under new rules you can apply to pay in 12 instalments. If you wish to do so your request must be received in writing by 1 April. Where requests are received after 1 April council tax will be payable in the number of months remaining up to and including March.
This is the easiest payment method for you as the customer and for the Council. You can choose to pay on the 1, 10, 18 or 25 of the month. Paying by Direct Debit saves you the worry of remembering to pay each month, writing cheque's, postal costs or queuing to pay.
In addition, you have the added bonus of the Direct Debit guarantee, which means an immediate refund will be paid to you in the unlikely event of an error ever occurring.
Set up your Direct Debit now go to access your Council Tax and benefit account. Please have your council tax reference number, bank account details and choice of payment date ready.

Customers who do not pay by Direct Debit will be issued with council tax payment cards. These cards allow the holder to make payments at a number of different outlets which are open long hours and on weekends. Please note that you cannot use these cards at a bank but you can pay at any outlet displaying the appropriate logo:

Cheques should be made payable to "London Borough of Hillingdon" and crossed. Please write your council tax reference number on the back of the cheque. This will allow us to identify and allocate your payment correctly. Post-dated or third party cheque's will not be accepted. Receipts are not issued for payment by cheque unless specifically requested.
You should allow enough time for your payment to reach us by the payment date. This is usually four working days if you pay at the bank or seven working days if you post a cheque with a first class stamp. If you pay at a Main Post Office it can take up to five working days.
If payment is not received by the date detailed in your instalment arrangement, the Council may issue a reminder notice to you, which could lead to the monthly arrangement being cancelled. If the arrangement is cancelled the remaining charge payable for the year will become payable in full.
Note: Non-payment of Council Tax may lead to court action being taken against defaulters.
