Child measurement programme

The National Children Measurement Programme (NCMP) measures the height and weight of children in Reception class (four to five-year-olds) and Year 6 (aged ten to 11 years) in primary schools in England to establish the prevalence of pupils who are 'underweight', 'healthy weight', 'overweight' and 'obese'.

In Hillingdon in 2014/15 77.5% of children in the school Reception year (age 4-5) were recorded as of healthy weight, with 2.0% recorded as underweight and 20.5% overweight or obese (10.9% overweight, 9.6% obese).

Results of the child measurement programme for Year 6 showed that 64.7% of 10-11 year olds were of healthy weight with 2.2% underweight and 33.2% as overweight or obese (13.4% overweight, 19.8% obese).

Further details including comparisons with London and England, trend data and rates of excess weight by deprivation decile are available here.
