Secondary schools

Two new secondary schools are meeting the need for additional school places.

Northwood Secondary School

Northwood Secondary School

The school, which opened October 2016, has three storeys, measures 9,800 square metres in size and promotes an academic focus on performing arts. The building features 53 classrooms, specialist design and technology rooms, a sports hall and a sixth form study. A stage area with retractable seating sits at the heart of the school, and additional arts facilities include an outdoor amphitheatre and performing arts specialist rooms.

Vyners Secondary School

A classroom will be built at Vyners secondary school, Ickenham to allow the school to offer more places to pupils with additional needs. The school currently has a Hearing Impairment Base for 16 pupils which will expand to 23.

Abbotsfield and Swakeleys Schools

These two schools fall under the national Priority Schools Building Programme and are being delivered by the Education Funding Agency. Both are being rebuilt and will be expanding. The Council is making a significant contribution to the Abbotsfield project.
