Hillingdon Schools welcome pupils for a new school year

Schools across the borough are re-opening their doors this week and next for the new academic year following the summer break.

News release: 07 September 2015

Hillingdon Council's £310 million school building and expansion programme continues to ensure every child has access to a high quality school place near to their home.

Hermitage Primary School, Uxbridge welcomed new pupils following its two-phase rebuild to offer double the amount of places.

Vyners Secondary School, Ickenham now has an additional classroom and Deanesfield Primary School, South Ruislip have extra units to provide space for their after school club and breakfast sessions.

The brand new St. Martin's CE Primary School in West Drayton with its fantastic state-of-the-art facilities will open for Reception and Nursery children on Monday 7 September. This is the third new primary school to be built by the council.

Bourne Primary School, Ruislip has also benefited from a new classroom unit for use as an additional teaching space but following flash flooding last week, the school has made the decision to postpone its re-opening to 7 September to allow teachers to prepare lesson plans and their teaching spaces. Despite this, the Chair of Governors, Lynn Grimes, said: "Hillingdon Council has been brilliant and has excelled in assisting us during the last week."
