Ancestry Library Edition is the perfect place to begin your family history research. Search census returns, parish registers and birth, marriage and death indexes. Also military, criminal, probate and immigration records, and much more. It contains records from Ireland, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Only available within Hillingdon Libraries.

The Genealogist The Genealogist

The perfect complement to AncestryLibrary.com for record sets. Includes the census, parish registers and BMD indexes. It also contains tithe maps, non-conformist records, wills and court records from the 14th century onwards, as well as a large photographic archive.

Only available via the Local Studies, Archives and Museum Service in Uxbridge Library.

British Newspaper Archive British Newspaper Archive : This link opens in a new window

Huge online archive containing millions of digitised newspaper pages from the 18th century onwards. Use it to search articles, family notices, obituaries, letters and advertisements nationwide.

Only available within Hillingdon Libraries.

Note: In order to access archive images you must must first complete a registration otherwise you will be re-directed to the payment page when trying to view an image.  By registering and creating an account you will also gain access to the "My Research" area which will enable you to keep track of your searches and bookmark your viewed items into folders.

A searchable archive of what was once the World's largest selling newspaper. Find articles from 1855 to 2000, covering global events and personalities as well as stories of everyday life.

British History Online British History Online : This link opens in a new window

For the more experienced family historian, British History Online contains a fascinating collection of printed historic records, 1300-1800. Trace your ancestors through hundreds of years of royal and governmental papers, legal cases and property deeds. Or search a range of maps and published local history sources.

How they lived then... Thousands of items of printed ephemera, including advertisements, entertainment posters and playbills as well as contemporary pamphlets from crimes, murders and executions.
