There is free parking but it is limited, so to avoid disappointment we encourage the use of public transport.

The Visitor Centre entrance is on Wren Avenue, Uxbridge, via St Andrew's Road and is signposted by brown tourist signs from neighbouring roads.

Battle of Britain location

By foot Dowding Park map

It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the bunker from Uxbridge tube station (depending on your speed).

The options for walking to the museum from Uxbridge can take you along the roads. Alternatively, you can walk through the recently opened Dowding Park, which was also part of the the old RAF Uxbridge site. However, the area is still under development and routes may be blocked by construction. There is signage in the park to the bunker but for now we recommend the road route up to the bunker while the construction is still ongoing.

  • From Uxbridge Underground Station, turn left onto the High Street.
  • Follow the High Street to a large roundabout with an underpass. St Andrew's Gate is on the opposite side.
  • Next to St Andrew's Gate is a footpath fenced-in on either side. This is a shortcut to St Andrew's Road.
  • bunker walk2 Follow the alley footpath to the end.
Ignore the signpost in the park by the fence as the new development has blocked access areas.
  • bunker walk1 Instead follow St Andrew's Road around the perimeter of Dowding Park.
As the road bends, continue forwards, (the path now sloping upward) and past two road barriers.
Continue up this road until you see a sign pointing towards The Battle of Britain Bunker Exhibition and Visitor Centre.
  • At the junction, continue to follow the road round the bend, taking care as you leave the footpath and past a large building on your right called Hillingdon House, currently under development.
  • The Battle of Britain Bunker Exhibition and Visitor Centre is at the end of this road - Wren Avenue.

There is a footpath back down the hill from the visitor centre, but no path currently exists across Dowding Park.

By car

  • The satnav postcode is UB10 0BE (different from postal address).
  • From the A40, follow the signs for Uxbridge.
  • Go past the entrance to Uxbridge College, then at the traffic lights turn left onto Honeycroft Hill.
  • At the bottom of the hill, turn right onto Honey Hill.
  • Immediately after the entrance to ACS International School (on your left) turn right onto St Andrew's Road.
  • At the junction turn slightly left and follow the road past Hillingdon House. Do not turn hard left into the housing estate.
  • The Battle of Britain Bunker car park is at the end of the road.
