West Drayton Crossrail

Crossrail is the major new high frequency, high capacity cross-London rail link. From December 2019, when the full Crossrail route to be known as the Elizabeth line opens, up to six Crossrail services an hour will serve West Drayton station.

In order to gain the most from the Crossrail investment, the immediate surroundings of the stations, the transport interchange and the urban realm need to be integrated with the new rail infrastructure. £1.6m funding has been awarded to LB Hillingdon under the Crossrail Complementary Measures (CCM) funding stream to achieve this transformation.

The aspiration is to make a transformational change to the Network rail owned West Drayton Bridge by January 2018 to greatly improve the experience for the residents and visitors travelling through the Yiewsley and West Drayton wards surrounding West Drayton station.

The scope of works agreed with Network Rail include:

  • full cleaning and sealing of the bridge including pigeon mitigation measures
  • electrical works to facilitate feature lighting and illuminated signage
  • installing a historic time line mural using hinged vitreous enamel panels

Further improvement works are planned in the immediate station vicinity. These will happen in line with the station construction works.
