Uxbridge Town Centre - public realm improvements

Enhancing the distinctiveness and competitiveness of Uxbridge Town Centre as a place where residents and visitors enjoy shopping and socialising.

The council has secured funding from the Mayor of London's Regeneration Fund to support the £2 million 'Uxbridge Change of Heart' project which will see a series of improvement projects to rejuvenate the High Street.

The popular shop front grant scheme is already underway within the Windsor Street conservation area, highlighting the rich mix of independent shops within the town centre.

The first phase of public realm improvement works will focus on the western end of the High Street and will include:

  • de cluttering existing street furniture and consistent use of high quality furniture (bins, benches etc.) throughout the town centre
  • significant improvements to the existing pedestrian route as a connection between the High Street and Fassnidge Park, and
  • improved public realm experience outside the Tesco store on the High Street with potential to improve bus stop configuration and seating for passengers
  • improvements to Baker's Yard, as key route connecting the bus garage, underground station and town centre.
