Join the Great British Spring Clean in Hillingdon
Tuesday 10 March: Hillingdon Council is inviting residents to join community litter pick events at local parks and green spaces, as part of the nationwide Great British Spring Clean.
Keep Britain Tidy's mass-action event runs from 20 March to 13 April, and the council is supporting the environmental campaign by hosting three events at Hillingdon's award-winning local parks and green spaces.
Litter picking events will take place at Pinn Meadows, Ruislip on Saturday 21 March from 10.30am to 1pm; Cranford Country Park, Hayes on Saturday 4 April from 10am to 1pm; and at Hillingdon House Farm, Uxbridge on Wednesday 8 April from 9.30am to 1pm.
Residents, schools, community groups and businesses can also make a pledge to do something to help the environment, such a promise to recycle more, reduce energy consumption, introduce reusable products, or travel in a more environmentally friendly way.
Cllr Jonathan Bianco, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Business Services, said: "Hillingdon is one of London's greenest boroughs and the council will continue to protect its award-winning parks and open spaces, whilst looking for ways to be more sustainable and energy efficient.
"There are a multitude of things that residents can do to help the local environment, whether it's joining in with a community litter picking event, organising your own event or pledging to reduce your plastic use or reuse more products. However big or small, you can help make a difference in Hillingdon and protect the environment for generations to come."
Residents can make a pledge by visiting www.hillingdon.gov.uk/environment-pledge - which will show how many people are taking part in the campaign. Pledges can also be shared by mentioning @Hillingdon on Twitter and using the hashtag #environmentpledge
