SEN support - expectations on education settings

The Equality Act requires that early years providers, schools, colleges, other educational settings and local authorities:

  • must not directly or indirectly discriminate against, harass or victimise disabled children and young people
  • must make reasonable adjustments, including the provision of extra aid services, so that children and young people with disabilities are not disadvantaged.

The council has a  SEND Strategy (PDF) [1MB] to improve the outcomes of children, young people and young adults with disabilities and those with special educational needs.
