SEN Transport: Home to School Travel Assistance Policy 2020/21

Parents/carers are responsible for ensuring their children attend school regularly. Under the Education Act 1996 and the Education and Inspections Act 2006, we have a duty to provide assistance with travel to and from qualifying establishments for 5 to 16-year-olds in certain circumstances. Our Home to School Travel Assistance Policy provides the framework by which we deliver this service.

Our current Home to School Travel Assistance Policy has been reviewed to provide a more inclusive, customer-focused, efficient and cost-effective service for students and stakeholders.

We are keen to hear your views about the proposed new policy to ensure it meets our borough's needs.

This consultation is open to schools, colleges, other educational placements, parents, relevant council departments, SENDIASS, Transport for London, the Parents and Carers' Forum and neighbouring London boroughs.

The consultation is open until Monday 28 September.

Feedback received through the consultation process will be considered before the policy is finalised and the new policy will be published on the council's website.
