The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

In June 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee (70 years of service).

Get into the Jubilee Party spirit

To help celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the council will also be holding a number of events and activities, including a beacon trail for families, a picnic in the park and the lighting of the Queen's beacon. 

Please note: The closing date for applications to hold a Platinum Jubilee street party has now closed. If you have applied to hold a street party or to request a road closure, you may wish to download and keep a copy of the key documents.


Jubilee competition

Calling all young creative writers!
Children aged 5 to 9 and 10 to 13 are invited to write a poem or story to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Send your entry to uxbridge-library@hillingdon.gov.uk with the header 'Jubilee Competition' by Friday 27 May.
Judging and prize giving will take place on Monday 30 May. Prize giving will be done by the current Mayor and Cllr O'Brien.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail 

Saturday 30 April to Sunday 12 June
Hillingdon will be taking part in a specially-designed augmented reality trail where players visit 7 characters who have come to life from Buckingham Palace and are visiting locations around Uxbridge High Street on a day out. Players (guided by Sir Barnaby Beacon) visit each character, learning about a different decade in Her Majesty's 70-year reign and 'choose their own adventure' as they progress around the trail.

Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting at Uxbridge Civic Centre

Thursday 2 June

On Thursday 2 June, between 2pm and 3pm, a town crier will be in Uxbridge reading a special proclamation to mark The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and to signify the lighting of the beacon later in the evening. 
 
Members of the public are welcome to attend the Civic Centre forecourt from 9pm to witness this historic occasion and to listen to a bagpiper and trumpeter who will be playing specially composed music for the occasion, followed by the Jubilate Choir singing a song for the Commonwealth, 'A Life Lived with Grace', as the beacon is lit.

More information on the running order and timings for the beacon lighting ceremony will be added here soon.


Platinum Jubilee at Eastcote House Gardens

Join in a special treasure trail hosted by the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens, suitable for all ages and themed around the Platinum Jubilee and the wonderful surroundings of the gardens. There will also be a special picnic to celebrate Eastcote House Heritage Day.

Platinum Jubilee Picnic in Fassnidge Park (Uxbridge) 

Sunday 5 June, 2pm to 4pm 
Come down to Fassnidge Park, bring a picnic (food, blanket, chairs) and enjoy live performances from The Candy Girls, as they sing classic songs from the likes of Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters and Vera Lynn, as well as artists, such as Beyoncé and Britney Spears.
