History

The land where West Drayton Cemetery is situated originally belonged to the Dean and Chapters of St Pauls and was given by Henry VIII to the Pagets and then passed to the De Burghs. In 1935 the land was obtained by The Urban District Council of Yiewsley and West Drayton for five thousand three hundred and twenty five pounds.

In 1936 permission was granted to turn part of the land into a burial ground and in 1938 permission was granted by the Home Office to use part of the land as for Roman Catholic burial. This was expanded in 1969.

By 1958 the council had built about 1,800 dwellings meaning the entire northern half of the parish had been built over, with the exception of the Green and an island of municipal property around Drayton Hall. This included the Drayton Hall grounds, the Avenue and Closes recreation grounds, the Old Pits allotments, and the cemetery. In 1984 part of the land was sold to Constain Homes for further housing development. The area of land is now divided into three parts. A housing estate, an allotment and West Drayton Cemetery.
