The 110 former students, many studying a full year or longer with Learn Hillingdon, each received a certificate and a handshake from Hillingdon's Deputy Mayor, Cllr Ahmad Wallana at the ceremony in front of their guests and fellow learners.

The ceremony took place in the Civic Centre's Middlesex Suite and was attended by almost 200 people. The graduation celebration was also a chance for the students to reunite with former classmates.

Funmilola Glover, who studied English L1 to help her to gain confidence both at home and in the workplace, said: "I write reports at work without worrying about spelling errors and now I speak fluently and confidently in meetings, home and social gatherings."

Steffi Fernandes, who studied Digital Skills, said: "The course helped me to learn more about the browser, internet, copy, cropping, designing, how to use the internet wisely and all the applications and accessibility on the phone and computer. I would love to learn more!"

Cllr Susan O'Brien, Hillingdon's Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said:

"Congratulations to all the graduates. Their success highlights what can be achieved with the support of the Learn Hillingdon team and the wide range of courses on offer.

"I wish them all every success in the future and I hope they have inspired others to take the opportunity to learn something new with us."

Learn Hillingdon Adult Community Education offers more than 500 part time courses for adults aged 19 and above. New courses are added throughout the year.
