Royal Air Force Uxbridge was headquarters of No.11 (Fighter) Group throughout the Second World War.
The Polish Air Force Memorial at RAF Northolt was unveiled on 2 November 1948.
In March 1941 the 1st Polish Fighter Wing was established at RAF Northolt.
In the summer of 1940, during the Battle of Britain, 145 Polish airmen flew alongside the Royal Air Force's Fighter Command.
