The council's dealing with landlords

Our officers will deal with landlords in a fair, consistent and open manner. Whenever possible issues will try to be dealt with informally within our adopted enforcement policy, which follows the principles set out in the Cabinet Office enforcement concordat which is followed at all times by our enforcement officers.

Paint pots Training for landlords

Landlords are encouraged to receive sufficient training and knowledge to enable them to run their businesses professionally and are encouraged to join the London Landlord Accreditation Scheme (LLAS) which provides training courses to enable landlords to become accredited for which a small fee is charged. Further details are available on the LLAS website.

The National Landlords Association can also provide useful advice and assistance to landlords across a range of issues.

Landlords forum

We also run a private sector landlord forum on a quarterly basis. We discuss a large range of topics from explaining changes in legislation, what letting schemes the Council has, to any form of grants that may be available both through us and nationally.

We try to work in partnership with responsible private landlords whenever possible. Grants may sometimes be available to assist such landlords in improving or repairing their properties, usually in exchange for some nomination rights for the council. You should contact us to see if any grants are available, as the position can change rapidly.
