Young people volunteering in our libraries

We have a wide range of exciting opportunities for 14 to 17-year-olds to support our libraries.

Summer Reading Challenge volunteers

Encourage children to participate in our year's Summer Reading Challenge.

About the role

Every year, we hold a Summer Reading Challenge within our libraries, from July to September.

Help our staff promote and deliver events and activities to children taking part in our Summer Reading Challenge, which encourages all 4 to 11-year-olds to enjoy the benefits of reading for fun during the summer holidays.

Who can apply?

This volunteering role is open to 14 to 17-year-olds.

You must live or study in the borough of Hillingdon to be able to volunteer for this role.

We need young people who are reliable, enthusiastic, organised, creative, enjoy working with children, and able to relate to members of the public of all ages and backgrounds.

What you can expect

Volunteers will have the opportunity to gain experience of working in a library, teamwork and engaging with members of the public.

We will be flexible and supportive, and staff will be on hand to help when you are volunteering in our libraries.
