Letter from the Leader of the Council to MPs on asylum-related funding

Wednesday 23 July 2025: Cllr Ian Edwards, Leader of the Council, has written to the borough's three MPs calling for their support to help secure immediate funding for the council's asylum-related costs to date, as well as fairer funding.

This follows a motion to full council earlier this month where the council called on the government to refund the costs of supporting former asylum seekers evicted from hotels by the Home Office.
