Cllr Goddard has been a councillor since 2018, currently representing Ickenham and South Harefield ward, and has been Cabinet Member for Finance since 2021.

Cllr Eddie Lavery will be taking over as the new Cabinet Member for Finance and Transformation.

Cllr Ian Edwards, Leader of Hillingdon Council, said: "Cllr Goddard's decision to step down from politics is a blow as he is a man of great experience, capability and integrity.

"Whilst he can look back with pride on his Cabinet service, I must look forward and take steps to ensure the smooth succession of our financial oversight.

"As we prepare to deliver the budget for next year and beyond, now is the appropriate time to bring about that change.

"I thank Cllr Goddard for the stewardship of our finances in the most challenging of times for the council and local government, as well as for the support he was given to me personally, and above all for his service to the residents of Hillingdon."
