Tenant repairs responsibility exemption form

1. This form is for inclusion onto the exemption register which should be completed and submitted. Should you be accepted you will be advised in writing of your inclusion onto the register.
  Hillingdon Council tenants are responsible for carrying out certain repairs in their home but there are exceptions for repairs caused by a disability that affects a tenant or anyone else who lives at the property, and for damage caused by domestic violence or harassment. In these circumstances the Council will do the work. For example:
- getting a tenant back into their house after they locked themselves out because they suffer with dementia.
- repairing an internal door which has been damaged by a wheelchair.
- repairing damage caused by a domestic violence incident.
The exemption only applies to damage which directly relates to the disability, domestic violence or harassment. It is not a general exemption from all repair responsibilities.
