Councillor Carol Melvin

Cllr Carol Melvin was Mayor of Hillingdon from 2017 to 2018 and the Consort was Andrew Melvin. The Deputy Mayor was Cllr John Morgan, the Deputy Mayoress was Fiona Morgan, and the Deputy Mayor's Escort was Pauline Bianco.

She is married to Andrew and her early married life was spent travelling with him as he was an Army Bandmaster. When Andrew retired in 1996, after serving 22 years, they settled in Northwood.

She takes a real interest in the local community and is an active member of Emmanuel Church Northwood, managing the Christian Bookstall, while also being on the Prayer Ministry Team.

She has always had a particular interest in local politics, joining the Ruislip Northwood Conservative Association shortly after coming to Northwood, and has served on the Conservative Northwood Ladies and the Northwood Branch Committee. For the last 7 years, she has served as the Branch Chairman.

After retiring from full-time employment in 2002, she completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Social Science with Social Policy, along with a Diploma in Criminology with the Open University. 

From 2002 to 2008, she worked as one of the Volunteer Station Reception Officers in the Northwood Police Station, and still serves on the Northwood Ward Police Panel, liaising with our Safer Neighborhood Team on issues and concerns raised by the Northwood Residents. 

In 2008, Carol was elected as a Councillor, representing the Northwood Ward.
