Little Britain walk

Follow this 3 to 4 mile route (at your own leisure), which takes you along the Grand Union Canal and around Little Britain Lake.

Please note: This walk is a medium to fast paced walk along several uneven surfaces and includes stiles, so follow the route at your own leisure.

  1. Start at Yiewsley library.
  2. Take Trout Road to the Grand Union Canal.

  3. Follow the towpath north up to Iver Lane,  cross carefully and go west over the Colne bridge.
  4. The steps down to the London LOOP path, on the Buckinghamshire side, are steep and too close to the bridge, so go on to the Iver white gate to cross back over the busy B470 more safely.
  5. Take the path back to the London Loop and follow it south through lovely woods, alongside the River Colne to Little Britain Lake, where we cross back over to London and skirt the lake, with its plentiful wildfowl.

  6. Take the Trout Lane path south over the Slough Branch of the Grand Union Canal, which never had a towpath because it was the last canal dug in Britain, for steam barges only.
  7. There is a path along it but it is often muddy so continue south on Trout Lane to join Trout Road back to the library.
