Community Schools Admissions Arrangements consultation

The council will be consulting for 6 weeks for changes to the admission criteria to be implemented for admission from September 2027.

As set out in the School Admissions Code, Admission authorities must set ('determine') admission arrangements annually. Where changes are proposed to admission arrangements, the admission authority must first publicly consult on those arrangements. Consultation must be for a minimum of 6 weeks and must take place between 1 October and 31 January of the school year before those arrangements are to apply.

Hillingdon Council is the admissions authority for all community schools and we will be consulting for 6 weeks from Monday 3 November until Monday 15 December at 5pm for changes to the admission criteria to be implemented for admission from September 2027.

Changes

Reduction of Published Admissions Number (PAN)

All community schools have a PAN in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021. This is the number of school places that the admission authority must offer in each relevant age group of a school for which it is the admission authority.

The Local Authority is consulting to reduce the Published Admission Number for:

  • Field End Infant School from 90 to 60, reducing the distance priority radius from 1000m to 750m.

If agreed, these PAN reductions would come into effect for pupils starting the school in September 2027 year in the admissions year, and then each admissions year following. The school building itself will remain the same size, and there will continue to be sufficient places for siblings and local families.

These adjustments are part of the council's ongoing efforts to align school places with local demand and to use resources efficiently across the borough. This approach enables the school to plan for the future, providing greater stability and ensuring long-term support.
