Hillingdon's Productivity Plan

The Minister for Local Government has requested all local authorities produce a productivity plan based on 4 themes.

Our council is investing significantly in digital, data and technology to drive key initiatives forward.

Hillingdon's productivity plan outlines:

  • how we have transformed the way we design and deliver services to make better use of resources
  • how we plan to take advantage of technology and make better use of data to improve decision making, service design and use of resources
  • our plans to reduce wasteful spend within our organisation
  • the barriers preventing progress that the government can help reduce or remove.

The plan provides recent examples of innovative service provision, such as the introduction of an automated voice and web chat solution, and it emphasises the importance of technology and data in improving decision-making, service design, and use of resources.

It also addresses external barriers and suggests how the government can help by providing multi-year settlements, fully-funding local government pay awards, streamlining statutory accounting processes, and addressing policy challenges within demand-led services, such as housing and social care.

The plan describes our value for money evaluation, governance structures to monitor spend and mentions collaborative work with other London boroughs to cut costs and improve outcomes for residents.
