School Work Experience Programme

If you're in school years 10 to 13 and want to explore what it's like to work in local government, our School Work Experience Programme is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience and develop essential skills.

About the programme

Placements are available across a wide range of departments. This short-term work experience programme is designed to help you:

  • gain hands-on experience in a field that interests you
  • build soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving
  • network with professionals in different departments
  • make informed decisions about your future career path
  • strengthen your college, university, or job applications.

How to apply

We welcome both students and schools to get involved in our programme.

Once we receive your application, we'll review available placements and try to match you with a suitable department based on your interests and availability.
