Rural Activities Garden Centre (RAGC)

The RAGC are committed to using the finest quality seeds and compost to grow and sell high quality produce, whilst offering employment and training opportunities for people with a learning disability.

The RAGC provides educational and supported employment and volunteering opportunities for residents with additional needs.

It first opened its doors in 1981 as part of a project by the council to make better use of the land on which it sits. The centre now boasts two 100ft glasshouses, five polytunnels, one shade tunnel and a wildlife pond. The RAGC produces a large range of bedding plants, shrubs and herbaceous plants, plus seasonal fruit, vegetables and free range eggs from chickens reared on site. The garden centre also has a small wooded area and other features to encourage wildlife including nest boxes and bird feeders.

This wonderful community asset is open to the public seven days a week and is accessible to all.

Wildlife photos featured in new garden centre calendar RAGC Calender 2018

The RAGC in Hillingdon has produced a calendar using wildlife photographs taken by volunteer gardeners. The 2018 calendar, which features pictures of flowers, trees and insects, is available from the RACG for £5. All the proceeds will go towards the running of the RAGC.

The calendars are due to go on sale in all libraries across the borough within the next two weeks. If you are unable to get to your local library, you can phone the RAGC on 01895 443445 and place an order.

Please note: delivery costs will be incurred for any order placed over the phone.

It's the first time the garden centre, which provides supported employment and volunteering opportunities for residents with additional needs, has produced a calendar. The images were taken by the volunteer gardeners during a six-week photography course in the summer.
