Ickenham Library is a community library in the north of the borough. The refurbished Ickenham Library has many new features.

Opening hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 0930-1730
  • Tuesday, Thursday 0930-1900
  • Saturday 0900-1600

What's new?

  • Longer opening hours.
  • New IT suite with more public PCs: 4 new PCs and 4 'Express' Apple Macs. 
  • Improved access: including lift, ramped access and accessible toilet.
  • New look children's library:  1 new child-friendly PC
  • New conservatory/meeting room

Where is everything?

  • Ground floor: Fiction, non-fiction, large print and talking books and Playaways, DVDs, Reference, study tables, catalogue PC, scanner and fully accessible PC. Also children's library and new conservatory/meeting room.
  • First floor: Public PCs, Apple iMacs, study tables, easy chairs and coffee table.

  • Free use of computers 
    for Internet, email, MS Office, scanning, CD-Writer facilities, printing facilities –   7 PCs and 4 Apple iMACS for 'express' use by library members
  • Free IT Taster Sessions 
    friendly one-to-one sessions to help you learn how to use a computer
  • Ancestry taster sessions – one-to-one sessions to help you discover your family history
  • Assisted Facilities available in all libraries 
    including fully accessible PCs - Supernova (screen reader & magnifier) software, large screen, easy-to-use keyboard, roller-ball mouse
  • Online Reference Library 
    Try our Online Reference Library (includes Britannica, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford English Dictionary, Newspaper and Journal databases, Times Digital Archives, Safari e-Books and much more)

    arranged in collections of Romance, Crime, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Westerns and General Novels
  • Non-Fiction books
    arranged in subject categories

  • Local studies, archives and museum service collection (main collection based at Central Library, Uxbridge)
  • Reading groups
  • Craft and Coffee club held Mondays 9:30am-12 
  • Murder in the Books reading group held 3rd Thursday in the month 2-3pm
  • Chess boards available
  • Monthly Silver Surfers' Club held last Tuesday of the month 10-11.30 am
  • Monthly Coffee Morning held 3rd Tuesday 10-11.30 am from 15 June onwards

  • Storytimes: crafts and stories now every Wednesday 2-2:30pm (term time only)
