Reporting fraud and corruption

How to report your suspicions.

Both the public and council employees have the opportunity to report any fraud and corruption suspicions anonymously to the fraud and corruption telephone hotline, which is administered by the council Internal Audit Team and the Corporate Fraud Investigation Team.

However, it is preferable that wherever possible, names should be given, as suspicions expressed anonymously are less powerful.

For example, fraud and corruption suspicions can include matters such as staff carrying out private jobs during work time, staff giving unfair advantage to particular contractors by not following a competitive tender process, false insurance claims, false council tax single person discount, benefit claims and sub letting of council housing, and so on. 

Therefore, anything where staff or members of the public suspect that there is some sort of fraud or corruption can be reported:

Envelopes should be marked "Private & Confidential".
