Leaseholders

Alterations

Depending on the nature of the work you wish to carry out, it may be necessary for us to grant approval by either issuing you with a licence or drafting a variation to your lease.

If you want to change any part of the inside or outside of your flat, you must get permission by logging a request online, you will need your 8 digit service charge account number.

You will also be responsible for getting any necessary building regulation or planning approval.

Your lease does not allow you, without prior landlord's consent, to:

  • carry out any structural alterations
  • fit new windows or new front door
  • remove walls
  • brick up doors
  • alter the appearance of the flat

If you have a top floor flat/maisonette, the loft space above you does not belong to you and you should not store items in there or make alterations to it of any kind. Access should usually only be for necessary repairs.

You must contact the tenancy management team before you start doing any work on your flat.

For more information on alterations and requests for consent, please email Tenancymanagement@hillingdon.gov.uk.
