High rise buildings

Building and fire safety

The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has launched a resident campaign focused on rights and responsibilities.

The campaign aims to raise BSR awareness and inform high-rise residents of their rights and responsibilities, with a focus around major cities such as London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds that have high numbers of BSRs.

Key messages encourage residents to report unresolved building safety concerns, understand their rights, participate in building safety decisions and ensure their high-rise building is registered.

Hillingdon residents in high-rise properties are reminded of the rights and responsibilities associated in occupying our higher risk buildings.

Serious and unacceptable behaviours on the shared areas of tower blocks

We recognise that serious and unacceptable behaviours on the shared areas of our tower blocks can present as a specific set of challenges to the safety of our residents. We have therefore developed a tailored response where the threshold of this anti-social behaviour breaches our 'Higher Risk Building Trigger'.

If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour or have witnessed anti-social behaviour on the shared areas of one of our tower blocks and think it might breach the threshold set out in our Higher Risk Building trigger procedure, please report it to localities@hillingdon.gov.uk - you will receive an acknowledgement by the following working day of your report being made and we guarantee follow-up action and regular feedback to the reporter.

Your safety and the safety of everyone living in your block depends upon unacceptable behaviours being reported to the Council and responded to swiftly and robustly.

The council has drafted a higher risk building procedure trigger document which will be reviewed by residents before it is finalised. The draft document is available to download (PDF, 269 KB) and if you have any comments on the procedure, please contact the customer engagement team by email at customerengagement@hillingdon.gov.uk or by phone on 01895 277038.
