Risk evidence and assessments
We have a portfolio of documents that provide evidence on flood risk and outline the actions to be taken.

- Appendix 1 European and National Policy and Legislation
- Appendix 2 Roles and Responsibilities of Risk Management Authorities
- Appendix 3Local Flood Risk Management Strategy Objectives and Measures
- Appendix 4 Community Engagement
- Habitat Screening for appropriate assessment
- SEA Appendix 1 List of SSSI
- SEA Screening
- A preliminary flood risk assessment helps us understand flooding risks and document past floods in Hillingdon.
- The Catchment Plan, which will soon be published, replaces our previous efforts to identify areas prone to flooding and groundwater issues.
- The west London boroughs of Brent, Barnet, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow have commissioned a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) to identify areas at risk of flooding and guide planning decisions. A flood risk assessment is required for certain applications to ensure the land or property is suitable for development. A Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) should also be included in any development plans..
- Flood Risk Assessment Guidance for minor householder applications (PDF) [123KB] has been developed by Hillingdon's flood team.
Assets
Under Section 21 of the Flood and Water Management Act, we must keep a record of all structures and features that significantly affect flood risk in the area.
We are committed to providing you with accurate data from reliable third-party sources. To make sure you have all the information you need, we recommend that landowners also conduct their own survey.
You can request to view our flood asset register or get further help and guidance, including information on Ordinary Watercourse Consents, by emailing flooding@hillingdon.gov.uk.
Investigations
We collect and record flooding reports, and significant flooding (where properties or businesses have been flooded internally) triggers an investigation, which will be published.
You can find our investigations on the Flood Incidents and Investigations website.
It's important for us to know the full extent of flooding, so please report any issues after the event. While we gather reports from different sources, using the form below helps us get all the details we need. Photos with dates and times are very helpful.
Please note: The form is not to be used to request emergency help or action from the various departments within the council.
