Renewing vows

A married couple can arrange a renewal of vows ceremony.

These ceremonies are often associated with a special wedding anniversary, such as silver, ruby and golden.

Our Register Office staff can advise on various options for the ceremony, including:

  • choice of readings
  • music
  • promises.

A certificate of renewal of marriage vows is issued to mark the event.

Please note:

  • The ceremony is non religious, has no legal status and is not any form of legal marriage, nor is it binding on either party.
  • You do not need to live in the district where the renewal ceremony is to take place, nor do you need any residential qualifications in any other district.
  • You will need to produce your marriage certificate when booking your ceremony.
