Public Sector Equality Duty

The Public Sector Equality Duty, which is part of the Equality Act 2010, establishes both general and specific duties for public bodies, such as the council.

Case studies

As a local authority we have a variety of roles - as a provider of services, a commissioner and contractor, an employer and a community partner.

The following case studies demonstrate how we are meeting the public duty in delivering services, as a community leader and partner and in relation to our employees.

Hillingdon recognises that different people will have different needs and our aim is to provide services that respond to those needs.

We recognise, respect and value diversity within our workforce as an asset in meeting the diverse needs of our service users.

The council works with local partners, community organisations and faith groups to encourage strong and cohesive local communities, and give people an opportunity to play an active role in community events and cultural activities.
