Travelling to the Lido

Public transport

On a sunny day the car park gets full very quickly, we strongly encourage using public transport.

  • Train - Ruislip tube station is on the Uxbridge branch of both the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines.
  • Bus - H13 and the 331 bus routes stop close by the lido and the woods. These stop at Ruislip tube station.

Plan your visit using Transport for London journey planner.

Car park

Willow Lawn car park is situated at the end of Reservoir Road and has spaces for both Blue and Brown Badge holders. As car parking is limited, and to avoid disappointment, we encourage using public transport.

MonthsOpening times
January, February November and December 8am to 4pm
March, April, September and October 8am to 8pm
May, June, July and August8am to 9pm

The Waters Edge pub and restaurant car park, next to Willow Lawn car park, is locked when the pub closes.

Lost children

Please supervise and keep a safe eye on children at the lido and agree a recognisable meeting point with them in case they get lost, such as the cafe or Woodland Centre.

Busy beaches can disorientate people especially children which is why we have implemented a wristband scheme for younger children. You write your contact number on the wristband and the child wears it which makes it easier to reunite them with you should they get lost. You can pick up a free wristband from the kiosk, cafe, lido train station and from staff.

Note: Boating and swimming is not allowed in the lake. The use of hover boards and motorised scooters are not permitted within our grounds.

BBQs or fires

BBQs and fires are not allowed anywhere at the Lido or surrounding woods.

Picnics can take place on Willow Lawn and Beach side and other areas around the Lido.

Feeding of the birds and ducks

There is a designated wooden bird feeding platform area for this activity on Willow Lawn. Please only feed birds from this location.

Note: Only feed the wildfowl with nutritious seeds and grains such as wheat, oats and cracked corn. Vegetables such as potatoes and lettuce are also better alternative to bread which is not advisable. Food should be thrown into the water to avoid encouraging the birds onto the banks.

Fishing is permitted from 16 June to 14 March. An Environment Agency rod license is required to fish the lake. Fishing rules apply. Fishing is only permitted from the designated wooden fishing platforms. It is not allowed from the dog beach, outside the Waters Edge pub, the main beach, the boathouse or from the bird feeding platform.

Play areas

  • We have a fantastic water splash pad on the beach side that is very popular, which opens April to end of September.
  • There are two playgrounds, one with general swings and slides and more. The other which is more adventurous that tests your balance and strength.
  • We also have the sand area where children can build sand castles.

Dogs are welcome at the Lido but please keep your dog under proper close control at all times. Please put any dog waste in the bins provided or take it home.  Please do not let your dog chase the wildlife.  The beach side area of the Lido is a dog on lead zone at all times and dogs are not permitted on the beach. Dog control orders are applicable at Ruislip Lido and in the woods.
