Refusals, misuse and withdrawals

Find out why your application might be refused or withdrawn. Plus, what to do if your badge is stolen or misused.

Refused applications

If you're refused a Blue Badge, the council will provide a statement outlining the reasons for refusal and an explanation of the review process.

Applicants who have been refused have the following rights:

  • An initial right to request the local authority to review the grounds of refusal
  • A subsequent right of appeal to the Local Government Ombudsman if the applicant believes the council has not followed due process correctly

Misuse and withdrawals

Misuse allegations may result in the withdrawal of the badge or prosecution. To report misuse, please complete a fraud referral form.
