Local Plan Review

Local Plan Review

The Local Plan provides a set of planning policies that outline how planning applications will be determined. The council has committed to reviewing its existing Local Plan.

The Local Plan is the main planning document a local planning authority uses to set out their aspirations for development in their area. It is influenced by public engagement and a robust evidence base, to ensure they are both aspirational and deliverable.

The council will keep stakeholders updated on the latest updates regarding the review. This will include:

  • supporting evidence
  • technical documents
  • consultation opportunities
  • next steps

Current Stage

The council is currently gathering preliminary evidence and preparing initial technical documents to support the review. It is anticipated that the council will issue a call for sites exercise by the end of May 2023. Further details on this exercise will be published at a later date.

Next Stage

Once the current stage has concluded, the council will seek to undertake its first consultation on the Local Plan. This is known as a regulation 18 consultation. This will invite statutory and interested parties to make representations on what the Local Plan should contain.
